Lisbon

About time I draft this blog post. I went to Lisbon February 6-9.

By this time I was dying. I wanted to go home. I would’ve gone home if it was an option. I wanted all of my comfort items. I wanted to see Sam. I WAS SO LONELY. The weather in Paris was bad and I needed serotonin so bad.

I was planning to go to Lisbon some time and Yuna and her roommates had already booked dates. I asked if I could go with them but they already booked their Airbnb so I booked a hostel and planned on meeting up with them throughout the weekend.

I arrived a couple of hours earlier than Yuna so I decided to get myself dinner and walk around a bit. I went to this dinner spot called Empanar and guess what they sold? Empanadas. It was the first time I had ever tried empanadas and they were so good. The staff were so nice and made me feel so welcome and helped me pick out ones they thought I would like.

However, THE STAIRS OMG. It is so hilly here and I had to walk up so many stairs to get to dinner. I really had to work for it. I met up with Yuna and met her roommates and we went to dinner again and just hung out.

The next day we went to Time Out Market, which is this big “market” with food stalls and some vendors selling items. There is a pastry that is a must try there called the “Pastel de Nata” and it was good. Nothing crazy. It tasted like a creme brulee but in another form.

It was raining sooooo much this day but it cleared up later in the afternoon. I just relaxed at the beach, walked in and out of stores, and tried a pasty (btw it was bad). Since I was having a hard time in Paris I really just wanted to soak up the sun and relax.

The next day Yuna and I went on a little day trip to Cascias, Portugal. It was such a cute beach town. Lisbon is technically a beach town but it doesn’t have beach town vibes. We had to hustle back because we had to catch a ferry to another side of Lisbon for dinner with everyone.

We got off the ferry and the only way to the restaurant was down this alley with one side lined with abandoned buildings and the other side being the ocean. It was just Yuna and I. I was sooooo scared. There were holes all throughout the concrete on the path and then we heard screams from inside the building and we started hustling.

We got to the restaurant and we made everyone walk back with us. This time I noticed that all the windows were knocked out of the buildings. You would think a big group would make me feel more safe. No. The boys were throwing beer bottles they found on the ground back onto the ground and I was not feeling good about it. This is a moment where Sam would say “Is the restaurant really worth your life”.

Overall a super good trip but getting back to Paris was horrible. My flight was delayed for a really long time and there was no seating or air conditioning in the airport. I got home and felt a little more fulfilled after the trip and that’s all that mattered.
